Dr. Eric Hulsey

Dr. Hulsey is the owner of Bentley Animal Hospital. He started working part time for Dr. Bentley in 1986 and he continued to work during his school breaks. In 1991 he graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. After a short stint in a mixed animal practice, Dr. Hulsey returned “home” to Bentley Animal Hospital as a DVM in January 1992. In 1998, Dr. Hulsey purchased the practice from Dr. Bentley and in 2001 moved us to our current location.

Dr. Stacey Matthews

Dr. Matthews joined our practice in February 2016. She is a University of Georgia graduate. She has worked in a variety of practices throughout the United States and this has served to give her a diverse and extensive knowledge of veterinary medicine. She enjoys both small animal medicine and surgery.

Dr. Matthews lives in Fayetteville, Tennessee with her husband and son. They have a mini-ranch consisting of horses, donkeys, chickens, cats, and dogs. She has a parrot named Merlyn that has been with her since hatching in 1990!

In her spare time, Dr. Matthews enjoys traveling, horseback riding, and spending time with her family and animals. She loves her job, stating “Veterinary medicine is such an exciting and forever evolving profession. I cannot imagine doing anything else.”

Dr. Katie Temmen

Dr. Temmen joined our practice in 2016. She is a graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. She has special interests in Cardiology, Immunology, and Nutrition. She especially enjoys the opportunity to be part of both her patients’ and clients’ lives. In her spare time, Dr. Temmen loves to hike, knit, read, and spend time with her husband, son and their five pets: three dogs – Griffin, Finn, and Roger, and two cats—Morticia and Gomez.

Annette

Practice Manager

Annette, her husband, and their two daughters moved to Huntsville in 2007 from Long Island, NY. She spent 13 years managing a veterinary hospital in New York, and began her time here at Bentley in 2009 as a receptionist until 2016. In November 2020, she returned “home” to BAH as our Practice Manager. Annette and her King Charles Cavalier, Cider, are a part of the Heart to Heart Pet Partners organization, where they visit schools and create a safe place to improve literacy skills and foster a love of learning. When she is not at the office loving on our patients or spending time with her family (her oldest daughter is in the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, and her youngest daughter is a newlywed Registered Nurse), she can be found snuggling with her seven dogs: Three Japanese Chin (Emi, Guinness, Groot), a Pomeranian (Hudson), a CavaChin (Ciara), and two King Charles Cavaliers (Cider and Bristol).

Angela

Receptionist

Angela moved to the Huntsville area from California in 2016. She has worked for veterinary offices since 2006, having taken some time off in the middle to be a stay-at-home mom to her four children. Angela is a lover of all things Disney, especially ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’. She loves spending time with her family, while taking day trips or watching football – “GO NINERS!” is their battle cry. Angela is newly engaged, and together they have five children. Rounding out their full house is eight pets – dogs Nala, Daisy, Slinky, Whiskey, Bubba, and Shadow; and cats Oliver and Autumn.

Delaney

Veterinary Assistant, Receptionist Team Lead

Originally from Michigan, Delaney moved to the Huntsville area in late 2007. She has been working at Bentley Animal Hospital since 2015, having begun her veterinary career in 2008. She is an officer for the local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism, plays flute (and alto and bass flutes) in the Prevailing Winds Flute Ensemble, and enjoys playing board games, attending concerts, and traveling. Delaney and her husband share their home with a Dachshund puppy named Gravy and three rescue kitties: a “wobbly” kitty named Tortellini, a tripod named Potpie, and a house-puma named Isaac.

Emily

Receptionist

Emily came to the Huntsville area from Michigan in 2011 and began her career in the veterinary field immediately. She is experienced in animal behavior, specifically canine training, and then made the transition to receptionist at Bentley Animal Hospital in 2022. Emily enjoys traveling, recently turning her dream in to her reality and visiting Paris. She also enjoys watching baseball (go Detroit Tigers!) and spending time with her husband, family, and friends. Emily and her husband have one dog, Lily and two cats, Toulouse and Cheeseburger.

Connor

Receptionist

A Huntsville native, Connor has been coming to BAH since 2011. Growing up, he wanted to become a veterinarian. Connor is a newlywed, having married his husband in Scotland in the fall of 2024. Together, they have three dogs (Storm, Lillie, and Clover) and two cats (Raine and Mr. Kiggy). When not working, Connor enjoys playing softball, quilting, crocheting, and reading.

Kevin

Veterinary Assistant / Kennel Attendant

A Huntsville-area native, Kevin has been working off and on in the veterinary field since 2008. He is a Plant Hobbyist, and can likely answer any question you may have on the topic. He has a cat named Kitters, and is a friend to turtles and frogs, having several at home as pets. Kevin loves to spend time outside, yet he NEVER tans.

Lindsay

Veterinary Assistant

Lindsay comes to us from the Pacific Northwest: California and Washington states. She has a veterinary assistant certification and has been working in the field since 2016. Lindsay has a propensity for long-haired pets: her dog Freya is a Long-haired Dachshund and her cat Rue Razzles is also long-haired. Her short-haired cat Todd wishes he had long hair. Lindsay’s favorite activity is sleeping, but when awake she enjoys spending time with her family and baby daughter Ellie (Lindsay is a new mom!), and watching horror movies.

Madison

Kennel Attendant / Receptionist

Madison has grown up an avid lover of animals—how could she not when Annette is her mother? In her increasingly narrowing spare time, she enjoys playing soccer and helps out at Bentley Animal Hospital as a receptionist and kennel attendant. Big changes are ahead for Madison: she and her husband (they’re newlyweds!) have recently bought a home together and she recently graduated as Registered Nurse. She has four dogs: Finch (Pomeranian), Sperry (Japanese Chin), Nellie and Oatmeal (Dachshunds).

Mary

Veterinary Assistant / Kennel Attendant

Mary came to Bentley having worked in dog rescue. She has two rescue dogs herself: Miles, a German Shepherd and Maggie, a Pitbull. She recently adopted a German Shepherd puppy named Echo. Mary enjoys taking the dogs for hikes and on adventures. When not “adventuring”, she enjoys home time with her family and friends and cuddles from Maggie, Miles, and Echo. Mary’s ultimate goal would be to visit each National Park throughout the United States. Will the dogs visit the parks too? Stay tuned….

Pat

Kennel Manager

Pat has been in the veterinary business for over 30 years, and he has been with Bentley Animal Hospital since 2001, caring for our pets (in fact, Pat and Shirley began their career at BAH the same day!). He is a Huntsville native and has been married to his wife Tracy since 2009. He enjoys Punk Rock and wrestling while keeping a special place in his heart for Chihuahuas.

Samantha

Veterinary Nurse / Patient Care Team Lead

Growing up on the family farm led the way to her love of animals. Sam has been in the veterinary field since 2000. She enjoys spending time at home with her family and tinkering around the farm as there is always a fence to mend, a weed to pull, or a dog to pet. When not working or on the farm, Sam enjoys attending garden club meetings, one to which she is an officer.

Brie

Veterinary Nurse

Brie comes to Bentley Animal Hospital from Oregon. She has been in the veterinary field since 2012, and previously worked in Veterinary Emergency Medicine (overnight shifts, eek!!) for 10 years. She has experience with large animals, small animals, exotics, and pocket pets. Brie works closely with rescue organizations, and is a board member on a few of the rescues. She loves watching True Crime documentaries in her spare time while snuggling on the couch. She has two cats, a rescue pug named Darla, and her super-pug-super-dog sidekick, Darby.

Shirley

Veterinary Assistant

Shirley has been with Bentley Animal Hospital since 2001 (in fact, Shirley and Pat began their career at BAH the same day!). You can usually find Shirley keeping the doctors on track with their appointments or keeping things stocked up with all our necessities. From surgeries to treatments, appointments to boarders, she can do it all! When not at BAH, Shirley loves spending time with her family, and has been known to win a few singing competitions.

Tatum

Clinic Assistant / Morale Booster

As Samantha’s daughter, Tatum has grown up on a farm and around animals. She began working at Bentley Animal Hospital in 2021 as a general assistant offering aid to each area of the hospital in need and by helping to keep our grounds clean. Her biggest asset to BAH is as our morale booster – she gives us uplifting compliments throughout our day, and it’s difficult to not smile as she tells us how wonderful and beautiful we each are. Tatum’s favorite part of working at BAH is helping take care of our patients and learning new skills. Her hobbies include drawing characters (humans and animals), playing videogames, and watching anime – and she does all this while listening to her favorite music!

Jerry

Kennel Assistant

Jerry was born and raised in the Huntsville area on a farm. He has been working with farm animals and critters (snakes and reptiles!!) his whole life, and he considers his dream job one that allows him to work with animals – making him a perfect fit to take care of our boarders here at Bentley Animal Hospital. Jerry is the father of two boys and has one super cute dachshund girl named Sui.
